Learning Chinese with Teru
Now that we know what radicals are and can identify a few, let’s get cracking on character composition!
In Chinese, there’s 2 meaningful patterns to why a character looks a certain way.
The first one is by meaning.
As you may have seen before, 木 means tree.
Now what happens when you stick another “tree” next to it?
You get 林, which means woods/forest.

We don’t have many cuss words. The closest we have to cussing is insulting people’s ancestors up to 7 generations, and since a lot of normal people nowadays wouldn’t be nearly as offended so it’s not that great.

A quick list of common character radicals!
This will help you a lot with wordplay in some manga/anime, so even if you’re not interested in “Chinese” itself, it’s a good idea to learn this anyway for any kanji you encounter.
The format I’ll use is

I was born in the good old US of A so I’m white-wash by default unless I lived in some densely Asian packed area such as Chinatown.

I’m in Chinese 3 right now and my 老师 is from Beijing so she has an accent. The book we use is simplified though..and my last year laoshi had us try out some traditional from newspapers skbfal I can usually recognize most of them but simplified is easier to write
